ARE YOU MY BROTHER? is a story about Oscar Iglesias, a 47-year-old Puerto Rican tattoo artist in North Carolina, who is searching for his biological father — who he happens to share with me. The ensuing year chronicles the experience in real time with Oscar and the rest of my family, as they meet for the very first time.

In June 2025, Oscar died suddenly — less than a year after meeting his biological father. He was 49.

The film premiered at DOC NYC in 2024 and was amended in June 2025 after Oscar’s death.

A GoFundMe is setup to help Oscar’s wife, Mel, with expenses related to Oscar’s death, as well as her battle with Stage 4 Melanoma.
